Coaches

Our goal as coaches is to express our passion, share our knowledge, and bring the enjoyment of skating to people of all ages and abilities while creating a sense of achievement for the skater. Figure skating is a wonderful combination of physical activity, with artistry and musicality. We welcome you to come join us at the Inlet Skating Club of Port Moody, “City of the Arts,” whether it’s to learn basic skating skills or progress through our various Skate Canada Certified Programs. All of our Coaches are professionally trained, certified through Skate Canada and have valid First Aid and CPR.

Nicole Orford

Director of Skating

NCCP Level 3 National Coach Certified

Nicole Orford is the Director of Skating and Head Coach at Inlet, bringing over a decade of coaching experience, strong leadership, and a deep connection to the club. She began coaching at Inlet in 2011 and went on to serve as Group Program Director from 2015 to 2023, leading the CanSkate and Skating Academy programs. After a brief time away, she returned as a Club Coach and now steps into her current role in 2026.

Nicole has worked with skaters of all ages and levels, from first-time participants to high performance competitive athletes. She is passionate about building strong fundamentals, confidence, and a lifelong love of skating, and is committed to supporting each skater’s individual goals within a positive and inclusive environment.

Nicole’s background as a competitive athlete includes success at the provincial, national, and international levels in both singles and ice dance. She is a former Canadian Junior National Champion in ice dance, a Canadian National bronze medalist, and a multi-year member of the National Team, representing Canada at many ISU events such as the Junior World Championships, the Four Continents Championships and numerous Junior and Senior Grand Prix events.

She holds a Master of Health Studies in Organizational Leadership from Athabasca University and a Bachelor of Arts in Health Sciences from Simon Fraser University, bringing valuable leadership and organizational insight to her role.

Nicole is proud to continue contributing to the Inlet community and is dedicated to building on the club’s strong tradition of excellence while supporting the next generation of skaters.


Nikki Jukic

Club Coach

NCCP Level 2 Provincial Coach Certified
CanSkate Certified

As a skating coach, Nikki brings along her bubbly personality and positive attitude. She helps guide her students to accomplishing their goals by putting emphasis on proper technique and hard work. Her coaching philosophy is that every fall is one step forward!

Nikki comes with over 11 years of coaching experience and is an NCCP Provincial Level 2 Coach. She has taught a variety of levels of skaters from StarSkate to Competitive. Nikki has shown her strong leadership skills through volunteering in numerous international skating events from the ISU 4 Continents to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Nikki was a dedicated singles skater competing up to the Novice level and completing up to the Gold level in Freeskate and in Skills. In addition to her achievements on the ice, Nikki has attained a Bachelor’s Degree from UBC and holds a post-Bachelor’s diploma in Supply Chain Management.

When it’s time to relax, most recently you can find her walking the shores of Penticton’s Okanagan Beach.


Nicole karadjov

Nicole has been a part of the Inlet Skating Club since the age of 5 as a skater and has the intention to help the club grow and develop now as part of the Coaching team. Nicole wants to create an environment that encourages athletes to learn and develop in and out of the sport. She believes that playing sports when you are young and growing in more ways than one, builds not only a strong character and confidence but motivates hard work from a young age. She hopes to help athletes step out of their comfort zone, into a safe environment and be able to express themselves and share her passion for figure skating with other aspiring skaters.


Maya Dinwoodie

Maya has been coaching since 2019 and brings a strong foundation in both technical knowledge and athlete development. Maya’s coaching philosophy centres on motivating and inspiring skaters to achieve their individual goals while fostering a sense of enjoyment within the sport. She believes challenges are best faced when met with encouragement, hard work, and a willingness to try new things.

As a skater, Maya has completed her Gold tests in Freeskate and Skills, with partial completion of the Diamond Dances, allowing her to support skaters across a variety of levels and disciplines. With competitive experience in both the Podium and STAR pathways, she is well-versed in the rules and requirements at each level and can effectively guide skaters along the pathway best suited to their development.

Maya holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in active health and rehabilitation. This background allows her to support skaters in optimizing movement, improving performance, and reducing injury risk through the development of physically stronger skaters. 

Outside of the rink, Maya enjoys staying active and continues to explore ways to support health, fitness, and overall well-being.


Melissa folino

Club Coach

Mellisa comes with a ten-year competitive history in pairs competition. She competed at the Pre Novice level Chicoutimi Quebec 1989, Senior Pairs level at the Canadian National Championships, Halifax Nova Scotia. She has competitive participation from the pre-preliminary level to senior competitive including singles, pairs, and dance disciplines. Through a lifetime of athletic experience and as a mother of 3 children, Melissa understands the value of discipline, dedication, and hard work ethics this sport brings to athletes and how it prepares them for life. She wants to share with students her love and passion for skating and the joy of accomplishments that comes with advancing their skills in preparation for success. She values creating great memories with her students while providing a comfortable yet constructive and enjoyable atmosphere, teaching them good sportsmanship while encouraging them every day, and creating well-rounded athletes.


MIKU MAKITA

Club Coach

With her ice dance focused background, Miku's coaching emphasizes building strong foundational skating skills while developing artistry, power, and body movement. She aims to help skaters grow both their technical abilities and performance quality, encouraging each skater to bring their own personality to the ice.

Miku has been part of the Inlet Skating Club since she was 5 and has over 15 years of skating experience. She started as a freeskater, competing up to Novice Women’s and attending the BC Winter games, while also training in ice dance. She went on to compete at the Junior and Senior level in ice dance, making the Senior National Team, and trained and competed with my partner for seven years. Miku's international experience includes Junior Worlds Championships, Junior Grand Prix events, and the Winter Youth Olympic games.

Outside of the rink, Miku has a strong background in competitive dance, which she brings into her coaching to help skaters refine body lines, build confidence, and enhance their performance skills.

If she's not coaching, you can usually find Miku climbing in the mountains and swimming in a lake!


Elisha Liu

Club Coach

NCCP Level 2 Provincial Coach Trained

Elisha has been coaching since 2014, starting initially as a community learn-to-skate instructor and eventually obtaining her NCCP certification through Skate Canada. Her love and passion for figure skating is what inspired her to pursue coaching and give back to the community. She holds a deep appreciation for the convergence of technique, artistry, physical discipline and mental resilience honed within the sport. 

With the belief that it is important to nurture a healthy human to cultivate a healthy athlete and acknowledging that skaters are a "person first, athlete second", she aims to create an environment that facilitates both psychosocial and physical development. Recognizing the uniqueness of each individual, she seeks to meet them where they are and to instill confidence, build competence, and empower them to reach their goals, inside and outside of sport.

Elisha’s passion for coaching inspired her to study sport science to be able to bring her best to the ice. She has completed a Diploma in Sport Science with a concentration in Kinesiology as well as a Bachelor of Physical Education and Coaching with a specialization in Kinesiology, graduating both degrees with distinctions. She also has a BCRPA High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development certificate.


Cristina Delmaestro

Cristina is a dedicated skating coach with a strong technical foundation and a lifelong connection to the sport. With 9 years of coaching experience, she coaches CanSkate, StarSkate, Competitive, Off-Ice, and PowerSkating programs, focusing on developing strong fundamentals, confidence, and a positive training environment.

Cristina began skating at age 3 and competed up to the Novice Competitive level. She has achieved her Gold Freeskate and Gold Ice Dance tests. Her competitive highlights include Bronze at the 2012 BC Winter Games (Juvenile), 4th at the 2012 BC/YT Sectional Championships (Juvenile), and Silver at the 2011 BC/YT Sectional Championships (Pre-Juvenile), along with multiple selections to Provincial Development Teams. She trained under world-level coaches Bruno Delmaestro and Kelly Champagne in Freeskate, and Megan Wing and Aaron Lowe in Ice Dance, where she developed strong technical expertise and attention to detail.

Her coaching style is technically focused while ensuring skaters feel supported, motivated, and enjoy the process. She specializes in jump technique, jump development, and off-ice training. Cristina holds a Bachelor of Science with First Class Distinction from Simon Fraser University, which contributes to her disciplined and analytical approach to coaching. She is passionate about helping skaters build confidence, discipline, and a strong work ethic through the sport.

As a coach, Anjali brings energy, enthusiasm, and positivity to the ice. She encourages skaters to work hard, develop strong technique, and maintain a positive mindset as they work toward their goals. She believes that the skills developed through skating help build confidence, resilience, and determination beyond the rink.

Anjali has been a member of the Inlet Skating Club since the age of six and has completed her Gold levels in skills, free skate, and artistic disciplines. With three years of coaching experience and her NCCP Level 1 Regional Certification, she is passionate about sharing her love for the sport and creating a fun, supportive environment for all skaters.

Having received tremendous support from the skating community throughout her journey, Anjali is committed to giving back as she continues her undergraduate studies.

Clarissa started skating at Inlet at the age of 4, developing a love and passion for the sport at an early age, and went on to compete for 14 years before retiring in Junior Ladies. She has completed both her Gold Freeskate and Gold Skills tests. As a former competitive figure skater, Clarissa developed a strong sense of discipline, commitment, and a strong work ethic.

Growing up at the Inlet Skating Club, Clarissa understands how valuable a supportive and encouraging environment is and is committed to creating the same positive atmosphere she experienced for all Inlet skaters. She hopes to inspire her skaters to strive for their personal best both on and off the ice, and to develop a love and appreciation for the sport that extends beyond jumps and spins. She is passionate about creating an environment where skaters feel encouraged to learn, build confidence, step outside their comfort zone, and create lasting memories.

Sofia began figure skating at a young age and competed for nine years, developing a deep passion for the sport along the way. Through skating, she learned valuable lessons in discipline, dedication, and perseverance. The encouragement and positive energy she received from her coaches played a big role in shaping her experience and love for skating. Because of this, Sofia understands how important a supportive coach can be. She hopes to create the same positive environment for her students by helping them build confidence, develop their skills, and enjoy the sport. Sofia is excited to continue learning from fellow coaches and looks forward to growing in her coaching journey.

Peter Ahluwalia has been coaching full-time since 2010. He is currently an NCCP Level 2 Provincial Coach and is working towards his Level 3 National Coach certification. 

Peter has coached ice dance skaters competing at the Junior World level, as well as singles skaters at the National Level. As an ice dance coach, he places strong emphasis on skating skills and interpretation. Having worked alongside many high-performance coaches, including Megan Wing and Aaron Lowe, Peter has gained a vast knowledge of the sport. 

When Peter is not coaching, he spends his time travelling the world having visited over 20 countries. 

Peter is excited to bring his expertise and passion for skating to the Inlet Skating Club.

Abigail began coaching in the spring of 2025. She started skating at the age of 9 and has since developed a background across multiple disciplines, including singles, ice dance, and synchronized skating. She has completed her Gold Skills, Gold FreeSkate, and Star 10 Dance tests during that time.

As a coach, Abigail’s approach focuses on developing a strong technical foundation and tailoring her coaching to each skater’s needs, encouraging growth at their own pace while still challenging them to improve. 

Abigail’s coaching philosophy centers on nurturing perseverance, resilience, discipline, and having fun! These are all qualities that skating has instilled in her and that she strives to pass on to her skaters. 

She is passionate about helping each skater reach their personal goals while building a lifelong love for the sport. She looks forward to being part of their journey!

Abigail Mui

Amy has competed at national events in both pairs and singles skating and is a BC/YT provincial team member in both disciplines. Pairs is the more recent addition to her skating career and has given her a more holistic approach on coaching. It has taught Amy how to handle fear while learning new elements and how to approach skating in a different and more positive and productive manner. This has taught her skills in prioritizing health and safety while progressing and learning. Amy has been figure skating for over a decade, and has earned her gold skills and gold free skate.

Amy’s coaching philosophy is to ensure that skaters are enjoying themselves while working hard and remaining safe.
